Andy: Triumph Speed Twin 1200
Si: Voge DS900X
The stunning Triumph Speed Twin 1200 probably isn’t everyone’s idea of a long distance touring bike but Andy’s managed to configure a soft luggage system to carry the kit needed for eight days in the Highlands and Islands.
Andy’s previously been used to adventure style on/off roaders such as Yamaha’s Tenere 700 – the powerful Triumph will definitely test his stamina as there’s nowhere to hide from the weather!
However, you can bet that the Triumph will attract the most ooh’s and aah’s from folk as she’s a thing of beauty to behold…
Voge won’t be a brand known to many but essentially, the DS900X is a BMW F900GS equivalent. It’s designed as an adventure bike to munch miles and carry kit both on and off road – read Si’s review.
Ironically, Si was going to use his twenty odd year old Yamaha XJR1300, much more compatible with Andy’s Triumph, but the Yam got sick back in June and hasn’t been sorted yet.
The Voge 900 is becoming very popular in the UK. The differences in technology between the old school Yamaha and the new kid on the block are immense!
